May Winner

June 18th, 2008

Yes, I know. Once again, I’m late with the posting. I seriously feel like I’m still playing catch-up from being on the Alaska trip.

As of the end of May, we were at 227 hats - 45.4% of the way to the goal! We’ve got some more since then, and are currently at 274 hats! We’re past halfway, before the halfway point of the year - I’m SO excited!!!

And now, the part you are waiting for - May’s winner! Per Random.org, congratulations go to…

Michelle (AKknitter) of Wandering Minds! Michelle, just let me know whether you would like the yarn or the fiber!

April Winner and May and June Prizes

May 5th, 2008

Congrats to April’s Hats for Alex prizewinner:

alerievay!

(And can I say how much I love random.org’s integer generator…)

This weekend, I visited the Cloverhill booth at Maryland Sheep and Wool, and picked up the prizes for May and June:

HPIM0188

Neighborhood Fiber Company Studio Sock yarn in “Brookland” and C*Eye*Ber Fiber 50-50 merino-tencel roving in a gorgeous tonal purple.  Two gorgeous prizes from two kick-butt local dyers.

The winner for May will get to choose (in case it’s not a spinner, I don’t want to stick them with fiber they can’t use) and the other will be the prize for June.

And, after this weekend, we have a total of 188 hats for the year!

Maryland Sheep and Wool

April 22nd, 2008

Huge, HUGE thanks to Jolene Mosley for agreeing to have Cloverhill Yarn Shop act as a collection point for hats at this year’s Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival on May 3 and 4.

Cloverhill’s booth is in D2 and D3 in the Main Barn.  If you have hats, please stop by the booth to drop them off, preferably in an envelope so that they don’t have to keep track of individual hats.  I’ll be picking up the May prize from there (and by “picking up”, I mean “shopping for, along with stuff for me”), which I’ll post here on Monday after the festival.

So please support Jolene and Cloverhill if you are at the Festival - it means a HUGE amount to me that she is willing to do this.

March Winner!

April 17th, 2008

Only, er… a little late.

Courtesy of the random number generator over at Random.org, this month’s winner is…

turtlegirl76!

I guess it had to be expected that she’d come up eventually, since she’s pretty much single-handedly spearheaded the drive from the Charlotte Knitters.

And what does our friendly turtle win?

Three hanks of Wool in the Woods Double Kiss in “Bashful”

HPIM0138

And no, I’m not mailing it to you. You can wait until you get up here to get it. :P

And I’ve also got a picture of April’s prize. Five hanks of Crystal Palace Waikiki in “Fern”

HPIM0139

(Yes, I’ve been stash-diving a bit. Why do you ask?)

Drawing will happen the first Monday of May, when I should also have the May prize, which will be procured at Maryland Sheep and Wool.

February 2008 Prize and Status

March 2nd, 2008

First, congratulations to Aimee of Fairieknits - your name was drawn as the winner of the Malabrigo Worsted!

Secondly, as of the end of February, we have collected 66 hats toward the goal of 500 - 13.2% of the goal!  Let’s keep going!

February Prize Yarn

February 28th, 2008

This month’s prize yarn was generously donated by Holly at Zen…Cats…Yarn - Malabrigo Worsted in the “Melilla” colorway. Gorgeous stuff, and she also sent some Colinette Prism that will be included in the year-end prize basket. Thank you so much, Holly!

HPIM0101
I’m planning on doing the February drawing on Monday, so check back! Hopefully, I’ll also have March’s prize yarn and can post pictures of it. I’m hitting a couple of LYS this weekend with some friends and will be on the lookout.

Issues

February 24th, 2008

Hey all - it has come to my attention that there are some people emailing me, and Gmail is being a little heavy-handed with the spam-filtering. Also, the comments here are supposed to be emailed to me, but aren’t getting sent. I’m working on that.

In short, if you email or comment and don’t get a response, your best bet might be to message me on the Knittyboard or Ravelry - I’m trillian42 in both places.

Hopefully I can get this sorted out soon. Until then, I apologize - I’m not intentionally ignoring anyone!

Er… February… Right

February 11th, 2008

I know - I said I was going to have the winner of January’s prize up much earlier.  In my defense, I was only a little bit behind until I got completely knocked flat by the flu for the last week.  I’m almost back to normal now, so I’m getting back on schedule.   As such, the winner of the January prize is…

Dani of YeaIKnit!

Congrats, Dani - I’ll send you a message shortly to discuss delivery of the Zephyr.

January 2008 Hats for Alex Prize

January 8th, 2008

I know, I was supposed to have this up yesterday, but I’m working on a show that opens at a local theatre this Friday, and I spent all day Sunday and last evening at rehearsal. So, only slightly late we have the prize I have chosen for the January drawing. And as promised, not sock yarn! (Not to say that it won’t ever be sock yarn, but at least we’re not starting with it. :D)

HPIM0035

This is 6oz. (1890 yards) of JaggerSpun Zephyr Wool-Silk laceweight yarn in “Steel”. It’s lovely stuff, and this is plenty to make a BIG lace shawl (or more than one, possibly). So remember - just get at least 3 hats to me by the end of January, and you will be entered in a drawing to win this, as well as entered in the drawing for the end-of-year prize.

Plans for 2008

January 4th, 2008

OK, so I mentioned that I have some plans for this year.  After the success of the contest that Weezalana masterminded last year, I started thinking about doing something similar this year.  My inspiration for the details came from Bezzie over at Random Meanderings and her K.A.Y.E. project.

So, here is the plan:

If you send at least 3 hats in a month, your name will be entered into a drawing for that month, with a prize to be listed here.   I’ll draw for each month on or about the first of the following month and post the winners here.  (This is also why I would like your email address included with your hats, so that I can contact you if your name is drawn).

For each month that you send at least 3 hats, your name will be entered into a drawing for a year-end prize that I will assemble through the year.  (I may or may not put up year-end-prize teasers through the year.)

I am going to try to avoid the skein-of-sock-yarn trap and branch out into other yarns, just because I know not everyone is a sock knitter.  I’m going to do a little stash-diving this weekend, and I should have January’s prize chosen and posted Monday-ish.

Also, I’m going to look into getting a PO Box today, so I may have a mailing address that I can post to save you all the need to email me to get the mailing address.

Thank you all for being a part of this project, and I hope you are as excited as I am about this year!
